Itinerary

Day One:

  • Round trip shuttle from Madrid International Airport to hotel.

Round-Trip airport transfer from Airpot to Hotel and 2 PM check-in to hotel.

  • Madrid Tapas Experience Walking Tour and dinner at 7 PM.

The focal point of Spanish cuisine has always been its fresh and local produce, resulting in each region of the country having its own assortment of toothsome specialties. To sample the nation’s vast array of flavors, you need to do what the locals call tapear – going for tapas.

On this 3-hour tapas tour of Madrid, tapeando is precisely what you’ll do – in the company of an expert guide. The experience begins with your guide telling you everything about the origin and history of tapas in the various regions of Spain. They will take you back in time and explain how King Alfonso had the brilliant idea of forcing bars to give away small portions of food with every drink. Learn the traditional art of pouring cider, the secrets behind the most popular cocktails of “La feria de Abril” in Seville, and much more!

Tapas include classic homemade paella, marinated fish, patatas bravas, jamón Ibérico, cheese, and pan con tomate. While you taste these dishes, sip on beer, Rebujito cocktails, and/or Asturian cider. One round of tapas tasting at each bar is free, but you can pay for anything else you would like to enjoy separately. The guides will gladly recommend further tapas places to try while you are in Madrid.

You will learn the secrets of tapas and Spanish culture, and by the end of the night, you will have met some new foodie friends, learned how to explore and order tapas for yourself during the rest of your vacation, and discovered some of the oldest and most traditional districts of Madrid.

Day Two:

  • Stadium Tour and Lunch (possible teams include Real Madrid C.F. and Atletico Madrid) at 1 PM.

Explore the history of the Real Madrid football team at the club’s Bernabéu Stadium.

Your adventure starts with a panoramic view of the stadium, giving you an idea of the sheer greatness of the club. You will also go to the Trophy Room to see European Cups, Intercontinental Cups, Spanish League Trophies, Spanish Cups, UEFA Cups and Super Cups won by Real during its long history.

Watch videos of legendary fixtures, and admire some of the kits, boots and equipment used by the team over the years. Admire the vast array of club memorabilia and take a walk around the pitch to experience the spectacular stadium from the ground.

You will also get access to the Presidential Box, normally reserved for Real Madrid board members and VIPs. And as an added bonus, you can now visit the dressing rooms, previously off-limits to everyone except the players and managers.

Day Three:

  • Scenic Madrid 3-Hour City Cycling Tour at 10 AM.

Enjoy the sights of Madrid as you cycle through the city, enjoying the freedom and convenience of traveling by bike. This 3-hour excursion takes in all of the city’s major landmarks.

The tour begins at the steps of Madrid’s famous Templo de Debod. This is actually one of the few Egyptian temples found outside Egypt today. From here you’ll cycle past the Royal Palace, and continue on to the Cathedral of La Almudena, Plaza de la Villa, and the San Miguel Market en route to the city’s main square – Plaza Mayor.

After visiting the Plaza, cycle through some of the city’s traffic-free zones to the Plaza de Santa Ana, then down to the Prado Museum. Afterward, climb up a gentle hill to arrive at Retiro Park. Enjoy its lovely gardens and ponds while taking a break and purchasing refreshments.

Leaving the park by the imposing Alcala Gate, the tour continues toward Calle Serrano and Plaza de Colon. Wind your way through the lively streets, past the boutiques and cafés of the Chueca district, to Calle Fuencarral and then Plaza de España.

Day Four:

  • Madrid Skip-the-Line Guided Tour of the Royal Palace at 9 AM.

Skip the long lines to the Royal Palace of Madrid and learn the history of the Spanish monarchy on a guided tour. Hear how the palace has changed through time with informative observations from your expert guide.

Discover an exquisite collection of tapestries, porcelain, antique clocks, armor and works of art from the royal collections, including paintings by Goya and Velázquez. Visit the private apartments, throne room and banquet halls, along with the Hall of Mirrors from the reign of Charles IV.

Admire the Palatine Stradivarius collection of musical instruments and see the 19th-century English-style gardens and 2 neoclassical fountains.

  • Watch a professional football match*

Saturday only depending on league schedule* (possible teams include Real Madrid C.F. and Atletico Madrid).
